Bay Head is small, quiet, and quaint, and is located on a narrow barrier island along the central coast of New Jersey, at the heart of the so-called “Jersey Shore.” Bay Head has a significant year-round population, but that population swells greatly in the summer! The population is a balance of summer and year-round homes, and a number of luxury summer rentals are also available. Most residents and visitors take advantage of all the the bay, beach, and ocean have to offer.
The town is famous for its pristine beaches, and offers all the benefits of Barnegat Bay – sailing, fishing, boating, and more. There is a private yacht club, and Bay Head has a quaint business district with a variety of shops and businesses. In addition, Bay Head has several churches. In addition to all that the town has to offer, it is close to many other unique towns, including Mantoloking, and Spring Lake. Surrounding towns offer additional options for dining, shopping, and other activities.
There is a very friendly, comfortable “bare feet” feeling, and while quite elegant, there is a more relaxed atmosphere than places such as Spring Lake, NJ, the Hamptons, and Newport, RI. The town was incorporated in 1886, has been loved by many since then, and still is!
